Good morning! I FINALLY was able to have some free time to make a card! About time I am in my happy place craftin'! :) With the end of the school year and a ridiculous amount of wedding tasks checked off my to-do list, I decided to treat myself by making a card with my go-to favorite supplies. PS. I tried out vellum for the first time today and after four attempts, I ended up with a card that I absolutely love! What I would do to be able to fill my day with making cards and calling it my job! Ahh *sigh*!
I used Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks to create the background. Starting with a wet piece of watercolor paper, I dabbed these three colors in various ways onto the paper. Then after I heat set that, I "smushed" Worn Lipstick onto an acrylic block, misted with water, and applied to the watercolor piece. After that was dry, I again repeated that last step but used Squeezed Lemonade instead.
I decided it needed a little something extra so I flicked water droplets onto the piece. Distress Inks has a unique property in that it reacts with water; almost like a bleaching effect. I dabbed off the droplets with a piece of paper towel and moved onto the vellum piece. To be completely honest, this was the most time consuming part of my card. I couldn't end up with an embossed vellum sentiment that I liked. After several failed attempts, I was able to create this happy birthday to you sentiment with gold embossing powder. Love that shine!
Even though I was feeling discouraged about the whole vellum thing, that's the fun part with card making... you learn through your failures! Now I'm probably going to be adding vellum to all my cards for awhile! :)
And for some added cuteness.....
Kennedy! :)
